About the office

Østengen & Bergo AS is a landscape architecture firm founded in 1996 by partners Kari Bergo and Johan Østengen, who came from the landscape department of Snøhetta. Today, Johan Østengen is retired and the firm has two new partners: Marit Reisegg Myklestad and Ann Kristin Viken Almås. The office works with all types of landscape projects, creating unique projects all over the country. We currently have 11 landscape architects and one student intern with diverse backgrounds, centrally located in Vika, Oslo. The team is made up of a mix of experienced professionals and those with youthful curiosity, all with a great passion for the field.

At Østengen & Bergo, we are dedicated to discover the unique characteristics of each location, and using this as a starting point to develop projects with clear and distinctive features that enhance the environment and neighbourhoods. We aim to create sustainable and functional projects that encourage people to use shared spaces. The team strives to create space for biodiversity and new nature experiences, recreation, everyday life and celebrations.

We use various work methods and tools, tailored to each project, including concept and idea sketches, illustrations, 3D and BIM models, bidding materials and construction drawings.

Østengen & Bergo fosters a supportive and collaborative working environment where employees are encouraged to share ideas and tackle challenges together. The team is a close-knit group that participates in a range of social activities, such as after-work drinks, study trips, Christmas parties, summer gatherings and cabin trips, creating a strong sense of community.
